The Harris Map (part three)

Part Three (and last one)

(Don't read without reading part one or part two, just a friendly warning)

I was hiding the Harris map in my backpack. Not that old man Harris didn't know this. I just wanted to pretend everything was all right, even though it wasn't.

I couldn't stop staring at the back of his head. It was like medusa, I even felt he had eyes on that messy dirty chilling hair. Arthur gave me this look that I have know for years, its the "They know we did the toilet papering at the principals house" look, and I gave him my "We will find a way to blame someone else" look. We entered the house trough a huge wood front door, it was like entering a ghost house, not that we were surprised; I mean this was old Harris house.

I remember a particular party that I went too, it was the birthday of some popular kid and everyone was going to be there, so I went thinking that Arthur would go, but he didn't, he had the flu, and so I was stuck with Natalie and her brainless friends all night long, to distract myself I started to drink this beer that was mostly foam, and I am not a very good drinker so after my fourth foam-beer I was completely drunk. I remember dancing on the table "coyote ugly style", kissing a random ugly guy, screaming "SHOTS" at the top of my lungs like I was a cool dude and of course puking my guts out on the front lawn while Natalie held my hair and muttered angry words.

Of course Monday morning I remember feeling scared, embarrassed and freaked out to go to school and face the dirty looks of my classmates, Natalie, Natalie´s friends, the random ugly guy I kissed and of course Arthur. It was the worst feeling, but nothing compared to that night with old man Harris.

Old Harris, still not turning back guided us to his living room. To my surprise it was a nice living room, not scary at all. The walls were painted an eggshell creamy color, the furniture was blue and comfy and there were beautiful paintings of the ocean and sailboats on the walls. He sat on one of the sofas and motioned us to sit in front of him.

"So" he said in his authoritarian voice we heard earlier "Can you tell me why you broke into my house at the middle of the night and stole my map?"

I was quiet so Arthur spoke "Im sorry, We are sorry Sir, Mister huh... Harris"

"That is not gonna work for me, maybe it works for your parents when you make those puppy loving eyes and say you are sorry, but you tried to steal something from me, in some places in the world this is punished by death" he made a pause, now I was really freaking out, he was going to kill us, we were dead.

He sighed deeply and continued speaking "I just need a good explanation of why you did this, a real answer, and I need it right now"

"WE WANT TO TRAVEL TO THE OTHER WORLD" I screamed in high pitch voice, boy was I scared.

Old man Harris continued to stare at us, maybe he was planning how to kill us now, maybe he would jump to our throats and rip them out, it sure did look like he wanted to do that. And then he just started laughing, really laughing.

"You want to travel to the other world you silly young creatures?"

I wasn't sure how if I was supposed to answer that, he was still laughing at us.

"You wouldn't survive one minute in the other world" he suddenly said with no more laughter in his voice, he was rusty serious again. "There are things you cant even begin to imagine, things that could kill you in an instant, dark creatures, old spells creeping in every corner, traps traps traps everywhere, its possible you cant even get back to this world once you are on the hell of the other world"

I gulped. I looked at Arthur, and he was smiling. What?! Why was he smiling?! This was not a situation were you were supposed to smile, did he listened? Dark creatures and traps traps traps everywhere and this old man was horrifying and crazy, he could kill us.

"No way" Arthur said. "No freaking way, you are just telling us that so we wont go to the other world because you know we can and you cant because you don't love anyone".

Was Arthur seriously challenging this guy?.

I remember when my brother died, tree years ago. I wanted to die to, he was my support system, my confident, my friend, my blood, and he was taken away from me, in a stupid stupid stupid battle against a rare disease. I had given up, but Arthur was there to pick me up again when my parents were to weak to do that, he was by my side, every step of the way, he told me I had to live because he needed me, and that one day we would do amazing things together, things no one even dared doing, and here we were.

Arthur was being serious, and the old man Harris was now confused. "Well he said, you are right and wrong kid, Im not gonna tell you the truth, maybe I was lying about the creatures or maybe I wasn't, but go ahead, I see you have the guts, you can keep the map, you can go to the other world".

Arthur and I did go on our road-trip and to the other world. Im not going to tell you what part was the old man Harris lying about, but he was telling the truth about some things, for instance we were trapped.

THE END.

Thanks for reading imaginary readers.

Hope you liked it, Best of luck.

The Harris Map (part two)

PART TWO
(Don't read without reading part one, just a friendly warning)

Im not saying that we failed in retrieving the Harris map, or that we did, only that the "perfect plan" didn't go as we expected.

Arthur wanted to tell Natalie the plan, you know, of stealing the Harris map, but Natalie is a non-believer bitch. I cant believe I just said that.
Its not like I hate Natalie, I don't, I like her, sort of. Well I have to like her, and she has to like me, so we pretend to like each other because Arthur makes us spend a lot of time together. Im good at pretending.
But you already heard me say the "B" word, so just between you guys she really is a "B", its like she has creepy mind powers over Arthur, he does whatever she tells him.

Lets start over. Natalie is the non- believer very nice girlfriend of my best friend Arthur.
Yeah that sounds better.

So I disagreed with Arthur, I didn't want a non-believer to come with us to our road-trip, and she would probably talk him out of this, the stealing and the traveling between worlds its SO NOT Natalie, she prefers manicures, shopping and small dogs in her purse.
So I told him NO WAY, and played my dead brother card. Yeah, my brother died 3 years ago. I found out you can make people do things with the "dead brother card".
We had this huge fight and that is probably why the "perfect plan" didn't work out, we tend to forget things after we fight, like the yummy beef for the barking dogs.

People of this town are very scared of old man Harris, he is weird and has crazy unclean hair that sticks all the way up his head. Parents like to tell their children that if they dont behave they will send their souls to live in old Harris creepy hair and they would be trapped there until they behave better. This has never actually happened; usually kids do behave better when they hear this. Crazy parents.

We were in the old estate, ready to perform our "perfect plan", we knew by then we have forgotten the beef, but we were already there, we couldn't just back down, we were very quiet, we passed the dogs, who were sleeping to our good fortune, we climbed the tree, jumped and entered the reading room.
We divided our searching, and after one good straight hour, surprise, The Harris map. I was the one to find it. I can be a very good detective if I want to.

The Harris map was really old but simple. It looked, well like those pirate maps you see on movies, and I had no idea what the little scribbled (probably mermaid) words said. We had achieved our goal.
We made this ridiculous dance around the reading room and climbed down the window and tree.
But surprise surprise, two glowing eyes where staring right at us as we made the final jump. One of the dogs. Im pretty sure this dog knew what we were doing and who we where. I saw his huge dog mouth open and sound come out, it was barking, but a new kind of barking, it sounded like this: Bark Bark Thieves, Bark Bark Arthur, Bark Bark (My name), Bark Bark Harris map and Bark Bark kill.

We couldn't run because in a second more dogs surrounded us, they seemed to be multiplying, I mean I am a believer, but what I was watching didn't seem possible.
You know that movie with the hairy hobbits and a sexy man with a sword that is in love with the daughter of Steven Tyler and she is magical and has huge mouth like his father, you know what movie right?
The one where everyone is fighting over this ugly ring, even a creepy thing that looks like a hairless rat and has sharp teeth and a double personality.
Well I felt like I was in that movie, when this things called orcas or something like that, surround all the characters to fight and they seem to be multiplying, endless waves of orcas things coming after them, it was something like that BUT with dogs.

And then old Harris was there, I mean, you couldn't miss him with his crazy hair
going around his head.
He looked at us, man, this guy has eyes that could scare even Indiana fucking Jones. He yelled with a rough rusty voice "ENOUGH".
The orcas-dogs stopped barking and stared to leave, one by one.

We couldn't just run away, he WAS staring at us, HE KNEW.
Then he just simply said:
"You two, come with me".
And we did.

The Harris Map

So this is what happened, Im not telling you this is what really happened, just what happened.

I was talking to my friend Arthur about how we were going to go on a road trip at the end of our sophomore year, just him and me, a girl and a boy, no sexual tension around, a completely normal situation, when we agreed that a normal road trip wouldn't be the best, we wanted another kind of road trip, we realized that in order to do that we would have to steal the famous Harris map.

Arthur is a really cool guy, we have been friends since we where little, so we know everything there is to know about each other, we have seen each other pee, well at least when were little. So why I am telling you this?, its one of my points to why there is no sexual tension between us.
Point number two, we don't like each other that way. I mean we are going on a road trip where there probably wont be showers and we will smell, so if we really liked each other that way, well that would be weird, and disgusting.
Point number tree, our parents used to date in high-school, how awkward would that be if we dated, its just, well you get the idea. We have no interest in becoming our parents in ANY way.
And of course, yeah this is point number four, Arthur has a girlfriend, they have been together for 2 years now. So I know my best friend, I know he wouldn't cheat on his girlfriend with his best friend.

While planning our road trip Arthur made the perfect plan to steal the Harris map.We would break in the middle of the night to the Harris estate. We would feed the dogs with yummy beef so they wouldn't bark, we would then climb the tree outside old Harris writing room, we would take the map and make a run for it. Of course that wasn't exactly how things happened.
I guess it wasn't the perfect plan after all.

The Harris map is wanted by many, folk tale says that if you have the Harris map you can go back and forth though this world and another one, but you have to be able to move at a quicker speed than an average human does.

The Harris map was supposed to belong to Captain Therraviacas, an ambitious pirate (I know right?) who wanted all the wealth in the world, and when he finally achieved that, he wanted all the wealth in this world and other worlds. So he made a deal with the mermaids ( crazy right?) and Im not sure what he gave them in exchange for the map, but he finally had in his hands a way into another world.
The mermaids told him (because they could swim really fast, go figures) that in order to enter the other world he would have to be able to travel at the speed of 754 MPH ( don't ask me how the mermaids said that) and when he finally did that he would have to shout out loud " MERCATIUS FORENTIUS MUNDIATUS".

Ohh god, I cant believe I forgot to tell this part of the story but another thing was requested to be able to use the map, you had to be traveling at high speed and scream those words with someone you truly loved by your side (crazy cheesy mermaids ha!).
Now the problem with Captain Therraviacas was that he didn't love anyone, not now, not ever, and nobody really loved him in return, he was hard as stone, his heart was cold and only greedy.
So you can picture the rest of the story, or can you?

Captain Therraviacas never found someone to love him or to love in return, and the precious map was said to have a terrible curse, because the Therraviacas were able to reproduce and have a son ( but still with no love in their hearts) , only one son, but never ever ever ever ever to love.
And this son would inherit the map, and the curse, and then would have another bastard son and so on and so on.

The Therraviacas eventually progressed to be Herraviacas, then Harrviacas, then Harrvics, then Harris, and the last on the line right now is old man Harris. Who has a son, but lives elsewhere and has no interest in folk tale, he is determined to find love.
We know he left town for good, and now the map has no heir, and WE WANT IT.

Arthur thinks it would be so cool to visit another world, I mean we do plan to come back, I don't want to leave my family behind forever, and he does not want to leave Natalie (That is his girlfriend) forever, and we just think that visiting Europe or something like that would be a cliche, so we want more, we wanna feel like Christopher Columbus did when he discovered America, or something like that.
Plus our parents already agreed to let us take a road trip, they just don't know where we are going.

Miles from nowhere

You suddenly out of nowhere wake up and you are different.
You don´t know when or how this happened. But you are completely sure
you have changed. You get out of bed and you look at your face in the mirror,
everything seems the same, but its not, you feel the change, but how to know
why or where or how.
You cant find the right words to say what you feel, is it better or worse?
Have you lost yourself completely or is it all an illusion?
Do you like this change?
Is it a good thing?
You look and you are not there, but at the same time you are staring
at yourself.
You made this, no one can make this kind of change except for yourself,
you start to question every bit of your life.
The old philosophical questions go throw your mind: Who am I?
What am I doing here?

You have to understand my friend that you are not the first person to go
through something like this, it happens to almost everyone, it is okey to have
doubts about life, about everything, to question, to think and to be scared.
Well, I think its fine.
Its a road to something better.
We change day to day, and when we realize of the change, we feel scared
and freaked out, but that is normal.
You have to hold on, don't pretend that everything is always fine, that is naive and childish, it is better to confront your fears and troubles,
and then you will change again, hopefully to become a better
version of yourself, to become what you expected.
Try to not let what other people say get to you, in the end, its your life
and your life only, No one can tell you when to live or when to die, it can
be your choice. It must be your choice, learn how to live, enjoy.

Im looking.
Im looking for something.
Nobody else.
And if I find it, I know the rest will be ...... just be.
Just be.

Take your time.

Its all right.

Sing along with yourself.
Whatever you loose you can always find it back,
you wont have to look no more.

If, only if.
If only, If only.
And no one,
nothing more besides.

"You may have the universe if I may have Italy"

Here is another dedicated post, but this one is not to a particular city, but to beautiful Italy,
and to the ever perfect Verona, Milano, Venetia, Firenze and Rome.
And also, its for those moments where you find yourself confused and lost and suddenly "BAM" a place can surprise you in the perfect way, you suddenly feel a indescribable happiness and you feel so full and complete.
I also have to say that you have to learn to look beyond whats in front of you, don't just take what you are supposed to be seeing or learning, there is always something better but you have to look to find this, and smile :)

I feel obligated to mention that Italy is place full of incredible art, history, food and talent, and now that I mention it, I have found a new love and respect to the wonderful "Michelangelo". Believe me this genius made perfection of so many places and things.
And Im not only saying this because he is famous (Like the other famous master Leonardo Da Vinci)
even if he wasn't as famous as he is, he will still stand up to the people that really see beauty even if its hidden.

Now enough of this weird speech I am giving you, I present you some pictures I
took while traveling in Italy and some quotes of the
amazing, awe-inspiring, awesome, arresting, sensational, stunning, astonishing, astounding, staggering, stupefying imposing, noble, dazzling, eye-popping, fulgurant, fulgurous, dramatic, spectacular, striking, expansive, grand, heroic, formidable, gallant, lofty, majestic, proud, brilliant, glorious, magnificent, splendid, grandiose, mind-boggling, palatial, thundering ITALY!

--Truman Capote--

"White swan of cities slumbering in thy nest . . . White phantom city, whose untrodden streets Are rivers, and whose pavements are the shifting Shadows of the palaces and strips of sky."
--Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, "Venice"--

"What is the fatal charm of Italy? What do we find there that can be found nowhere else? I believe it is a certain permission to be human, which other places, other countries, lost long ago."
--Erica Jong--

"Traveling is the ruin of all happiness! There's no looking at a building after seeing Italy."
--Fanny Burney--

"For us to go to Italy and to penetrate into Italy is like a most fascinating act of self-discovery ,back, back down the old ways of time. Strange and wonderful chords awake in us, and vibrate again after many hundreds of years of complete forgetfulness."
--D.H. Lawrence--

This quotes say in many many many ways how I felt about Italy :) and so much more.....

Hope this wasn't "too much".
